Our Approach to Trauma Therapy

The path we take will be guided by you and every path is different. Our approach has three stages; stabilization, processing, and integration. The first step in trauma therapy is helping you to feel safe and to build tools to manage your feelings, emotions, and overwhelm. The second step in trauma work is processing your traumatic experiences at a pace that feels right and safe for you. This can result in the reduction in the intensity of your traumatic response. The final phase helps you to integrate the traumatic story into your overall life story. While going through the above three phases, I may draw upon approaches such as trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy (TF-CBT), Written Exposure Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Somatic and Mindfulness practices. We may also explore possible post-traumatic growth factors, as discovering new possibilities and a greater appreciation of life.

Therapy isn’t about fixing you, because you are not broken.

It can feel like you are broken at times, but I assure you that you are not broken. Your traumatic injuries can be processed in a safe space with a supportive therapist as your guide. We will assist you in re-writing your story by finding and drawing upon your strengths, reclaiming your voice and living in your personal power. You will be seen, supported and free to be fully yourself as we process the past while living in the present moment, without judgement, self-criticism or shame.
